FAQs
I’m anxious about starting. Tell me what I can expect from a session?
My main priority is creating a spce you can feel relaxed and safe in. So theres nothing scary or probing in my sessions. Our first session will typically involve an proper introduction where we get to know each other. Once you arrive and get settled in my therapy room, we go over the confidentiality and the ways in which we can work and you have a chance to discuss anything you might need to make teh process feel easier and ask any questions that mightve come up since booking. I always work in a trauma informed way which means i put you in charge of how we proceed from there and the pace at which we go.
Is the space fully accessible?
There is a small step down in to a garden before entering my therapy room and a one way gate to navigate . This means the space unortunately isnt wheelchair accessible but it is fairly easy for anyone with limited mobility. Please advise me of this before arriving and i can make sure the sapce outside the gate is free for parking.
Public transport will bring you to the next village and the space is about half a miles walk along a country lane so most of my clients drive here or are dropped off.
How long till I feel better?
This is the million dollar question that everyone wants an answer to. Unfortunately there is no set answer and id reccomend being cautious of anyone promising you emotional healing in a set number of sessions.. The truth is theres a lot of factors which play in to ‘feeling better’. Part of it is readiness, your participation and willingness to trust the process and make the changes required ( if there are any). But a big part of it hinges on finding the right therapist. The relationship we will build together is a huge part of what drives the healing but I may not be the right one for you. If either of us feel like im not, then I am more than happy to help you find an alternative counsellor who fits your needs.
